The next few weeks offer some tasty opportunities to try some delicious wines, ideal for any wine lover. Here are a few to put on your to do list.
Veuve Clicquot Champagne rolls into Dallas this weekend in their Clicquot Mail Truck, pouring their classic Yellow Label Brut Veuve Clicquot Champagne on Saturday, September 27 at Savor from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm for champagne and gourmet burger pairings. Yellow Label Brut will be $15 by the glass or by the bottle for $75, while playing oversized jenga and Clicquot bottle toss on the Klyde Warren lawn. Can’t make it Saturday? The truck will be at Hotel Zaza Sunday from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Yellow Label flutes will be $20 a glass/$100 a bottle.
Wednesday night Jim Richardson of Oak Cliff Cellars, based here in Dallas making tasty wines from California, will partner with Chef Joel Harloff at the Bridge Bistro for a four course pairing dinner including Sea Scallops with Oak Cliff Cellars Sonoma Chardonnay, Thyme and Cherry braised Brisket with Oak Cliff Cellars Lake County “Le Belle Endormie” blend, and Summer bread pudding with an Oak Cliff Cellars dessert wine. $65 per person, reservations required. Sunday, September 28 the Dallas Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, which I am a member of, will host our annual Raiser Grazer event at the Dallas Farmers Market featuring tasty selections from Dame Chefs Tiffany Derry, Janice Provost, Sharon Hage, Joanne Bondy, Dunia Borga and more, paired with wines, beers and spirits from both Texas, like those from Dame Susan Auler of Fall Creek and Dame Caris Turpin of Lightcatcher, as well as national and international brands like Domaine Chandon, Merryvale, Dutton Goldfield, Alois Lageder, Perrin and more. I am on the committee and am thrilled with every selection we are pouring this year. And, it benefits a great cause, scholarships and grants for women in the food, fine beverage and hospitality industries. Tickets are $75, available here.
Monday, September 29 Sevy’s Grill hosts their monthly wine dinner, this month with wines of Priest Ranch on Somerston Estate in Napa Valley with Vice President of Sales, Jack Edwards. I had a chance to visit Somerston a few years ago, a beautiful Napa gem with delicious wines. The dinner will feature a variety of selections from Priest Ranch paired with the four course dinner. $79 per person, reservations required (214)265-7389.
A must attend event will happen October 2 at Jasper’s when Chef Kent Rathbun teams with Far Niente and sister winery, Nickel and Nickel for a special evening of food and wine. This is a win-win, as the special wines of both of these Napa Valley wineries are consistently delicious and always of the highest quality, much like Chef Rathbun’s delicious creations.
