What To Drink Now: Make At Home Cocktails To Put You In The Holiday Spirit

Whether lounging by a fire on one of these cold nights, standing under the mistletoe for a kiss, or simply waiting for Santa to bring your Christmas wish, try mixing up one of these tasty concoctions to put you in the holiday mood.

Mistletoe Margarita
1 1/2 oz Camarena Silver Tequila
1/4 oz New Amsterdam Gin
1 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Agave Nectar
8 Cranberries

Muddle cranberries in a mixing glass. Add tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, gin and ice. Shake and strain into a bucket glass with ice. Garnish with a skewer of cranberries.

Spiked Cocoa
1 cup milk
1 tsp. hot chocolate mix
1 tsp. coffee creamer
1 tsp. Maker’s Mark Kentucky Bourbon

For each person, heat a cup of milk to steaming. Remove from heat before bubbles begin to form around edge of saucepan.  Into cup or mug, measure chocolate mix, coffee creamer and bourbon. Add hot milk; stir until well mixed.

Camarena Frost
1 oz Camarena Reposado Tequila
1/2 oz White Crème de Cacao
1/2 oz Hazelnut Liqueur
1 oz Heavy Whipping Cream
Sprinkled Cinnamon Garnish

Combine liquids in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with sprinkle of cinnamon.

Hot Apple Pie
1.25 parts Canadian Club Classic 12
.50 parts Tuaca Vanilla Citrus Liqueur
4 parts Hot Apple Cider
Add Canadian Club and Tuaca to a coffee mug.  Top off with Apple Cider.  Garnish with whipped cream and a cinnamon stick.

Red Ryder BB Gun
2oz Russian Standard Vodka Original
1.5oz cranberry juice
1oz sour mix
Muddle cranberries and set aside.  Add all the other ingredients to ice and shake thoroughly. Strain into a martini glass and top with muddled cranberries.

Gingerbread Man

1 ½ parts Tequila Avión Aňejo
1 part Apple Flavoured Liquor (or apple from concentrate as a substitution)
¼  part Pear Juice
Splash of Egg White
Dash of Fresh Lemon
Pinch of Ground Cinnamon and Nutmeg

In a shaker add all ingredients over ice then shake and strain; can be served either straight up or on the rocks.

Sandeman Winter Spice Sangria
4 oz cinnamon Schnapps
3 clementines, quartered
6 oz cranberries
18 oz sparkling clementine juice or soda
6 oz cranberry juice
4 cinnamon sticks
Ground allspice to taste
Combine Sandeman Founders Reserve, cinnamon schnapps, clementine pieces, cranberries, cranberry juice and cinnamon sticks in a large pitcher. Cover tightly and place in refrigerator for at least 8 hours. Right before serving, add sparkling clementine juice/soda and sprinkle allspice on top, to taste.
